RIBA London Award 2026 for The OWO Pavilion

The Courtyard Pavilion at The OWO in London has received a prestigious RIBA London Award. Presented by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), the award is among the United Kingdom's most important architectural honours, recognising projects that excel in design quality, craftsmanship and social value.

The award-winning pavilion is located within the courtyard of the former Old War Office (OWO), a historic building in the heart of London that has recently been transformed into a luxury destination comprising hotel, residential and office functions. Designed by architect DaeWha Kang, the pavilion forms a contemporary addition to this historic setting and creates a new gathering space within the characteristic courtyard.

As Design & Build partner, Octatube was responsible for the engineering, production and installation of the pavilion's steel and glass structure. The most distinctive feature of the pavilion is its mirror-polished, three-dimensional roof. The complex, fully double-curved geometry consists of custom-formed stainless steel panels that continuously reflect the light and the historic surroundings. As a result, the appearance of the pavilion changes throughout the day and creates a unique dialogue with its environment.

According to the jury, the project stands out for its restraint, craftsmanship and intelligence. The renewed courtyard invites visitors to pause, gather and enjoy a moment of tranquillity in the heart of bustling London. We are proud that a project to which Octatube contributed has been recognised with this prestigious award.
