Octatube has been appointed as the steel and glass specialist for the refurbishment of the Old Marylebone Town Hall and Library Annexe in London. Sheppard Robson has drawn the design for a state-of-the-art teaching centre, including the insertion of a new lecture theatre block and a glazed entrance foyer linking two existing buildings.

The cast clamping nodes of the Market Hall’s cablenet facades have won the Benelux Award for Galvanizing in the category for characteristic steel building parts. The jury has studied 119 submissions and rewarded a price in six categories. The award ceremony took place in the Eye Film Museum in Amsterdam yesterday, and was organized by Zinkinfo Benelux.

The railway station area in Utrecht is currently undergoing a large transformation subdivided in a lot of different partial projects. Some of these projects have already been completed, like the City Offices, while other projects are still in their preparatory phase. One of these projects in preparation is the Rabobrug, a 275 meters long bicycle and pedestrian bridge across the railway establishing a vital new link to and from the city centre of Utrecht.

The former head office of KPMG in The Netherlands (project TenThirty) located on office park the Bovenlanden in Amstelveen is currently receiving an high-grade sustainability upgrade. The project is being renovated and furnished to become the new head office for Atos Benelux & The Nordics.. The project is characterized by a large courtyard for which Octatube realises a glass roof structure.

Mick Eekhout becomes professor Emeritus

In 1992 Mick Eekhout – founder and general director of Octatube – has been appointed as (part-time) professor at the Faculty of Architecture of the Technical University. At the Department of Architectural Engineering and Technology he has built the chair of Product Development. On the 20th of March 2015 Mick Eekhout will give his farewell speech in the TU Delft Conference Centre.

In Munich a large student accommodation has been completed where Octatube has realized two glass acoustic screens to protect the apartments against traffic noise. The building is currently extended, for which a third screen will be realized at the rail side of the building block.
