‘Dutch Construction Award’ 2015 for Octatube

Yesterday evening at the ‘Prom of the Dutch Building Sector’, the Dutch Construction Awards 2015 have been distributed by jury chairperson prof. dr. ir. Anke van Hal. The cablenet facades of the Market Hall that have been realized by Octatube were awarded in the category for building materials and –systems.

The final jury report can be read here, and states:
A very intelligently engineered system with an synergy between structure and architecture (like the construction of cathedrals) that shows a lot of courage. Despite the fact that application on larger scale is limited, the system is very suitable for building with a public interior space. The jury finds the structures of Octatube - time and time again - very fascinating. A very innovative facade, transparent and slender for a very special building with minimal use of materials. The facades are completely recyclable and thanks to the facades the Market Hall doesn't have to be warmed by installations. This radical solution is the perfect example of progress in the building sector and it puts the Netherlands on the world map.

Octatube would like to take the opportunity to thank the collaborating partners who contributed to the realization of the Market Hall’s cablenet facades:
