Audi Böllinger Höfe

In 2015, Octatube delivered a distinctive structurally glazed façade for the Audi Sport Facility in Heilbronn, Germany. The project is characterised by an inclined glass façade with point-supported glazing, reflecting Audi’s dynamic architectural language.

Octatube was responsible for the engineering, production and installation of the steel and glass structure. The supporting structure consists of exceptionally slender steel strips to which the insulated glass panels are attached using stainless steel point fixings. This solution provides a high degree of transparency while maintaining a refined and lightweight appearance.

The façades form part of the lounge area where the latest Audi Sport models are presented. Large glazed surfaces offer panoramic views of the surrounding hills of the Böllinger Höfe. One of the façades inclines inwards at an angle of 28 degrees, an architectural gesture that aligns with the corporate design identity of Audi AG.

Adjacent to the lounge, Octatube also realised a second structurally glazed façade. Twice the height of the lounge façade, it forms the main entrance to the adjoining production hall.

For the application of the point-supported structural glazing, Octatube obtained the German Zustimmung im Einzelfall (ZiE), a project-specific approval required for innovative construction solutions that fall outside standard building regulations.
